I have finished a thing

Huzzah for things! I finally finished my wisteria sweater. It is pretty great, if I may say so myself.
It was loosely based on this pattern, but I changed so much that in the end I don't know how much resemblance it bears.
Now I have to start something else! So I will!

It is right there, in the background, mostly obscured by AN AWESOME SWEATER.

It looks great, and wow, it looks like it totally fits even. I'm impressed as all hell!

It was actually pretty easy to do the pattern. I just found an image I liked, calculated width-of-back and number of stitches, and overlaid a grid of the right proportion. Then, lots of fill tool. Then, lots of knitting. Then, eventually, I profited.

That's amazing. You totally win.

I win at taking forever to make something! Hooray! Te-di-um! Te-di-um!
Now to do it some more!

Wow! You made that? Wow!

Does your talent know no bounds?

[identity profile] sanspoof.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
Time, space. Also sometimes I have to do things other than knit.

Sweeeeet.

Wow. That is indeed a lovely sweater.

Damn it all, with things like that going around, I have a bad feeling I'm going to have to break down and learn to knit. (Heaven forbid.) I'm tremendously impressed with both your skills and your patience.

I think you'd be good at it; there's lots of attention to detail and planning. Although you can also wing it, but the results are worse usually. One of the best things about knitting (specifically, about ME knitting) is that people snap up the brightly colored yarns and leave the drab ones behind. In this way, I get all kinds of good plain colors. (My next sweater I'm making now is going to be all brown, with DNA cables (http://bajada.typepad.com/everybody_wants_a_rock/dna_knitting/) down the sleeves. I've done two inches of one sleeve! Remarkable!)
I'd love to make you a type-oriented sweater, but I'd hate to make something fitted for someone who's not nearby for fittings. However, if you made some kind of awesome typeish glyph or something, I'd be pleased to make myself one and wear it around, while giving you credit.
Also: I have signed up for a type course that starts at the end of this month!

Wow, they even got the major/ minor groove thing correct. I would be very jealous of that sweater.

I always find the patience of knitters astounding. I can sew, with sewing it can be very haphazard and 'oh I made my new year's eve dress in one evening out of a $1.60 scrap of fabric', which is very much my style. I have heard knitters recommend it for long drives, or while watching TV, but I do not find either of these in my life. It's really a shame, because I find myself unable to make all the cool hats I might like. They're just not the same when sewn.

It's a weird skill, I will admit. Decidedly zen-ish, sometimes.
I will make you a hat, if you like. It's generally fairly quick work.

Until this day, I have never been impressed by a sweater. That one, however, has CLASS.

Awesome, zusty!

Thank you, J. Jonah Junkerjames! It was actually pretty fun and not-that-hard to make.

Maybe I can dress up as same for Halloween.
