Jun. 30th, 2005 10:44 amHm. This article that seems to be about games and the gender politics thereof is actually mostly only about female game characters, and how hard some of them make it for women to identify with them. I suppose that's something, but what about the games themselves? Is it really only the veneer of boobs that keeps females from playing said games? Is the failure of mainstream women to flock to gaming seriously dependent from stereotyped characters and chyxorz in chain mail? Come on. We're confusing cause and correlation here. Boob-centrism is a good _sign_ of a cheesy game, not a reason in itself to ignore one. It just happens that the two often go together.
The article seems to become more useful near the end, where it brings up variable desires, and the poor treatment of girl-gamers (not... enough... synonyms) by the media. Not one mention of fragdolls, though, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Though I do wish we as a gender could get over the whole 'oh [whoever] are so skinny' thing. It does not read well.
[11:45 am:] Slightly relatedly: Ha ha it is funny because ladies like girly things, for girls. Pink things. That cost money.
I am so tired of this.
