We just watched the second season of the Tartakovsky Clone Wars series. They've changed the format from I think five minutes to fifteen, and subsequently of course there's a much smaller ratio of action to not-action. This only hurts a little, and that mostly only when Natalie Portman is in evidence (There's some question in my mind of exactly how much The Man had his boot on Genndy Tartakovsky's human face this time around. But I do not know). Still, it's made abundantly clear how much the movies could be pared down and still function perfectly well (ACTUALLY rather better and much more tightly timed). I wonder if showing shorts in movie theatres will come back into vogue anytime soon. Anyhoo, I quickly got over my low-grade disappointment of having the all-action format taken away with the help of some highly awesome moments. I like to call them: Cave Painting Sequence, Yoda and Windu Forcepush the Dudes, and General Grievous Basically Always. His animation makes me clap my hands with glee, liek schoolgirl. A number of racially diverse jedi are allowed to briefly run around doing neat things, among them (as seen in cantina) a
giant-flatworm-guy and a
fluffy-sloth-guy-with-drinking-straw-proboscis. All the characters have been de-caricatured somewhat, which is sad. But we visit various home planets, including that of the blue elephant guys. So! Why not
watch, if you have not already? Downloading TV episodes is a grey area!
Additionally, Anakin has hockey hair, and there's an almost frightening Liam Neeson at the beginning of one of them. Almost frightening, but actually fascinating.
