(It is an overheard conversation about buying books. When I was in college I didn't buy too many (new) books either, but I would read them anyway, through borrowing or librarying. Or I would buy them used.)

They probably both climed into their Ford Explorer and drove off to their expensive apartment a five-minute walk from campus, minding their step so as not to slip on the sea of empty beer cans that litters their lawn.

Date: 2005-04-15 12:43 am (UTC)The only reason I know such things is because my little university is where all the rich kids from Toronto get sent: it's far enough away that they're out of their parents' hair, but not so far that they can't come back every weekend to refuel the Lexus. So it's fashion plate central. I've never seen so many high heels on the first day of school in my entire life.
