New Batman movie: Actually quite good. Surprisingly good. I attribute this in part to excellent actors, piled in great numbers into the cast. Good writing, but for a few call-and-response 'I will speak a Momentous Sentence, and later you will repeat it back to me when it seems chintziest' appearances. Two villains, and yet, this more or less worked. Cinematography sort of uninspired, but not hurtful.
The weakest part was the muddy, confusing fight scenes. They were all of the cut-really-fast-and-hope school, preventing the viewer from getting a good sense of who was where when.
But honestly, it was worth watching. Christian Bale sort of has a bit of Willem Dafoeness about him, albeit slight. Liam Neeson still has the Dignified Yet Ass-Kicking Guru part very much down. Effects were quite good, and even contributed well to some imaginative little bits that I shall not go into.

We don't have a tv, well, we have one but it is not connected to the outside world by even primitive rabbit ears. Thussly upon driving by a big 'ole sign advertising the existance of said batman film, I was forced to groan. Perhaps I'll have to check it out afterall though.

I hate Superhero flicks. I hate the apologizers who say "It's meant to be cheesy! It's a comic book adaptation." or where the psychological aspects boil down to shattered reflections as a metaphor for a split personality, or being banged over the head with a hammer marked "Peter Parker is slightly conflicted if you hadn't noticed". Bite me. Take a big chunk of flesh out of my ass.

Batman Begins really seems like the rather darker take I've been looking for in Superhero movies. It seems almost like the equivalent of an indie antidote to hollywood blockbusters. That's what I'm hoping, atleast. It's not out here, yet.

I'll take your share of superhero movies, please.

Some comic books would be fundamentally broken if ran through the Dark Knight filter. I mean, a morbid, gritty Plastic Man movie would be- Actually, that sounds pretty good. Gritty Scrooge McDuck. Gritty Superman (OH NO I DIDN'T). Let loose the 1985!

It's better the other way! DARKMAN IN DUCKBURG! ARCHIE VS. THE PUNISHER! Okay, the second one actually exists and rocks.

Darkman in Duckburg- That's dangerously close to Darkwing Duck. DANGEROUSLY.
